We demand that Dabolim be retained as the only civilian airport in Goa, because:

  1. Dabolim airport is centrally located and accessible within one hour from any part of Goa.
  2. Two airports are not possible in tiny Goa. Dabolim will definitely close dowm if Mopa comes, as has happened in Bangalore and Hyderabad.
  3. Dabolim is big enough for all future needs.
  4. Dabolim airport is illegally occupied and controlled by the Indian Navy.

This important Goan asset must be returned to the civilian authorities.

  1. Mopa airport is planned on Goa-Maharashtra border. It will shift all tourism and development away from Goa, to Maharashtra.
  2. Make no mistake, if Dabolim closes, the already established tourism industry of Goa will be destroyed. Not just tourism dependent buisnesses like taxis, hotels, shacks, but other trades and services will also be affected considerably. Thousands of Goans families will suffer due to loss of jobs and buisnesses.
